A Mission of Joy: The 2025 Christmas Care Drive
The morning of December 19, 2025, carried a distinct energy as the Impact Space Liberia team prepared for their journey to Kingsville. Fourteen volunteers gathered in Monrovia, their anticipation building as they loaded supplies for the Mother Victoria Orphanage Home. This mission represented weeks of planning and a shared eagerness to bring holiday spirit to the children in Margibi County. Led by Team Leader Clifford Payne, the group maintained a high level of excitement throughout the trip down the Kakata Highway.
Arrival and Purpose
The team reached the orphanage at 1:00 PM and received an enthusiastic welcome from the staff and children. The program began with a formal opening where Clifford Payne shared the core values of Impact Space Liberia. Volunteer Praise G. Payne followed with a talk on the meaning of Christmas, emphasizing the importance of kindness and community. These opening remarks established a purposeful atmosphere before the afternoon’s festivities began.
The Celebration in Motion
The environment transformed into a vibrant celebration when volunteer Mercy Krayee took charge of the activities. The sound of music and laughter filled the space as the children engaged in chair dancing and a variety of high-energy games. The volunteers joined in the movement, matching the children’s enthusiasm as the games progressed.
Winning moments were met with loud cheers and wide smiles from everyone present. The excitement reached a peak during the distribution of gift bags. Each child accepted their gift with visible delight, creating a memorable holiday experience for both the recipients and the volunteer team. In addition to the individual gifts, the team provided the orphanage with essential food items and supplies to support their daily operations.
Observations and Future Commitments
While the day was defined by celebration, the visit allowed Impact Space Liberia to observe the practical realities facing the Mother Victoria Orphanage. The team noted that the home faces significant hurdles in maintaining a consistent food supply for the children. Furthermore, a visible need exists for basic footwear, as many children lacked proper slippers or shoes.
The volunteers also recognized the logistical difficulties of the mission itself. Securing reliable, affordable transportation for a large group and a high volume of donations remains a challenge that requires better planning for future drives.
Sustaining the Impact
The Christmas Care Drive achieved its goal of bringing happiness and immediate support to the children of Kingsville. This visit strengthened the bond between the organization and the orphanage staff. Impact Space Liberia remains dedicated to the well-being of vulnerable children and will focus future efforts on addressing the specific needs for nutrition, footwear, and improved logistics.
