“…the smiles and joy we brought to the orphanage gave us a sense of fulfillment as volunteers. Showing great love and care made our lives more beautiful. Thank you Impact Space for equipping us with skills and empathy to help lift our communities out of poverty,” Ernest, Volunteer in Zimbabwe.
For the Rose of Sharon orphanage children, the empty feeling that comes with a home away from home could only be substituted by comforting words, ‘there is hope and one day satisfaction will find its way to the orphanage.’ Against the backdrop of hunger and uncertainty, these children live in uncertain times exacerbating the needs of an already vulnerable community.
According to Ms.Rumbie Pinky Chemhere, a Impact Space Zimbabwe chapter leader, raising children in recent times will require a consolidated effort to avert the looming starvation.
People are struggling to provide for themselves and their families and this culminates into a period of economic stress.
Impact Space is responding by accommodating young people through volunteer opportunities such as providing food and other basic necessities to the impoverished members of the communities, as well as provision of social networking space where they can engage, and mobilize force of change in their communities.
