Education is the first step to success and Impact Space is on a mission to make this happen for young people who are willing to challenge the status quo and break barriers for their families and communities.
Today, we are happy to announce the first recipient of the Impact Space A.M. scholarship of excellence, Joy Vandi (@joyvee), a 17-year-old Impact Space Sierra Leone Volunteer, pursuing a career in Nursing in Njala University. Her story is one of a young girl undeterred by the financial constraints of her family, stepped out to pursue her dream and Impact Space is glad to be part of making her dream come true. Joy!
We wish you all the best in your journey towards excellence.
The Impact Space A.M. Scholarship Background
The Impact Space Anita Mensah scholarship is setup in honor of a great woman who broke many barriers despite her lack of education, during a time when women had no standing in society. Anita Mensah rose from poverty in the 1960s to become an international business mogul, with a factory, hotel, and a large portfolio of real estate holdings to her name. She pursued literacy at the age of 60 and at 90 years, she still runs a hotel she loves every morning, located on a street named after her.
Madame Anita, grandma, we love and honor you.
Congrats @joyvee ???
