Impact in Action: Cross River Team Executes Maiden Clothes Care Drive

In a powerful demonstration of community-driven initiative, the Cross River team of Impact Space Inc. has successfully executed its first fully in-house funded Clothes Care Drive. The event, held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, provided critical relief to street children in Calabar during a period of intense seasonal rainfall, aligning perfectly with our core mission to empower local teams to serve their immediate communities.

The project was initiated following a team visit to community member Mr. Ernest Azu. Observing the severe weather conditions, the team identified an urgent need for warm, dry clothing for vulnerable street children. This grassroots identification of a hyper-local issue exemplifies the Impact Space model of empowering our teams to act on the needs they see firsthand.

A rapid reconnaissance mission identified three high-density locations for intervention: Mary Slessor Avenue by Bogobiri car wash, Atekong Junction, and Effio Ette Junction. This targeted approach ensured efficient resource allocation and maximum impact.

The drive resulted in the direct distribution of essential clothing and food items to numerous beneficiaries across the three target locations. Beyond material support, the team’s quick intervention facilitated urgent medical care for two critically ill children, Ekpenyong and Atam, and provided immediate relief for 12-year-old Evans, who was suffering from exposure to the cold.

The event also serendipitously coincided with the birthday of the Impact Space Director. In a heartfelt gesture, the team integrated a celebration into the drive, with beneficiaries joining volunteers in a birthday song. The Director, upon being informed of the project, endorsed the initiative and provided an additional support for the project, praising their proactive efforts.

Quotes from the Ground

Mr. Ekpe, Beneficiary

Director, I’m so happy today for these gifts given to us today, may God bless you and thank you.”

Uman, a 21-year-old beneficiary

Oh God will bless you for treating my legs. Thank you.

A Cross River Team Lead

The team work was amazing and the drive was successfully executed. We are already looking for ways to replicate this model.

This Clothes Care Drive stands as a significant milestone for Impact Space Inc. It validates our decentralized model of leadership, proving that with the right support, our local teams can independently identify problems, devise solutions, and execute projects with high efficiency and profound compassion.

The Cross River team has not only provided immediate relief but has also created a scalable blueprint for similar initiatives in other regions. Their work is a testament to the power of local action and a point of immense pride for the entire Impact Space organization.
